Government of India implements many schemes to help farmers. The primary objective of these schemes is to strengthen their financial position and ensure that they get adequate profits from agriculture. Even today, many farmers in the country are financially weak. Their income from agriculture is limited and sometimes it is difficult to meet their needs. For such farmers, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan) has been very helpful. Under this scheme, the government provides a total of 6,000 to farmers in three installments per year. The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to marginal and small farmers. So far, total 21 installments have been deposited in the farmers’ accounts under this scheme.
Meanwhile, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ramnath Thakur said that full transparency is being maintained in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan). So far, the government has disbursed over Rs 4.09 lakh crore to farmers in 21 installments. He further said that the government has developed a farmer-centric digital system to reach the funds directly to the farmers without any middlemen. Minister Ramnath Thakur said that several impact assessment studies have been conducted on the PM-Kisan scheme, which shows that the scheme is having a positive impact on farmers’ income and the rural economy.

A study conducted by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in 2019 found that farmers used the funds received from PM-KISAN not only for agriculture but also strengthened the rural economy.

More than 92 percent farmers are satisfied with this scheme. A survey conducted by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare through the Kisan Call Center revealed that more than 92 percent of farmers are satisfied with the scheme and more than 93 percent of farmers are utilizing the amount for farm-related activities. According to the Union Minister, a study conducted by NITI Aayog’s Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO) on the PM-KISAN scheme found that the scheme is successfully achieving its primary objective of providing direct financial assistance to farmers. This has increased the financial stability of farmers and improved their agricultural productivity. The study revealed that more than 92 percent of farmers used this assistance for essential farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, which are critical due to rising costs and climate uncertainty.
85 percent increase in farmers’ income
Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Ramnath Thakur said that about 85 percent of farmers have reported an increase in their farm income and are no longer dependent on informal loans in case of emergencies like crop failure or disease. The study also said that the PM-Kisan scheme has played a significant role in reducing poverty, increasing food security, strengthening women’s participation and bringing transparency in the government system. Aadhaar-based payment system and improved technology have significantly reduced payment failures.

Finally, farmers should click on the submit button.
Meanwhile, farmers who have not done EKYC yet. Also if your name, father’s name, bank account details or any other mistake is made while filling the application form, you will be deprived of the benefits of this scheme. So you should do EKYC as soon as possible. Also, if there is any incomplete information, that information should be completed. So you can avail this plan.
