New Delhi:- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed 65 lakh proprietary property cards in 10 states and 2 union territories. In the virtual program, PM Modi said, today is a historic day for the villages and the economy. This scheme, started five years ago, was created to provide villagers with legal proof of their houses and land. This step was taken for rural development as well as to strengthen the right over property. Mention of UN's property rights study
Citing a United Nations study in his address, PM Modi said, 'In many countries of the world, property rights have been considered important for eradicating poverty. We have taken a big step in this direction by distributing 2.25 crore documents. Earlier the villagers did not have solid documents of their property. Due to this, despite having property worth lakhs of crores, it had no value. Because of this there were disputes regarding ownership rights of houses. Many times the bullies used to occupy the houses. People could not be reached even from the bank. This continued to happen for many decades. But due to our initiative, now the village people have also got the property documents, which has benefited them.
Survey of villages using drone technology
PM Modi said that when our government came to power in 2014, we decided to deal with this issue. No government could leave its people living in villages in such trouble. In such a situation, we started this scheme. It was decided that drone mapping of houses and lands of the village would be started and property documents would be given to everyone. Under the Swamitva scheme, mapping of land and houses is being done through drones in more than 6 lakh villages of the country. Till now this process has been completed in more than half the villages. This scheme has not only given legal protection to the villagers but has also given them an opportunity to start small and big businesses by taking loans against their property.
The way for economic activities will open
PM Modi said that after the preparation of land documents, the way for economic activities worth more than Rs 100 lakh crore will open in the country. Lands have been given a special identity through property cards. About 23 crore Bhu Aadhaar numbers have been issued in the country. With its help it can be easily known which plot belongs to which person. It has become easier to identify each plot. In the last 8 years, digitization of about 98 percent land records has also been completed.
3.75 lakh kilometers of roads built in 10 years
PM Modi said that even after so many decades after independence, crores of people living in our villages were deprived of basic facilities like roads. The most troubled were the families of the tribal community. In the year 2000, when Atal Bihari became the Prime Minister of the country, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was started. Now, under this scheme, more than 8 lakh kilometers of roads have been built across the country. In the last 10 years, our government has prepared 3 lakh 75 thousand kilometers of roads.
Emphasis on connectivity and development of villages
PM Modi said that our government is focusing on increasing the connectivity of marginal villages. Under the Vibrant scheme, more than 2 lakh panchayats have been connected with broadband. More than 5 lakh new common service centers have been created. Apart from this, a subsidy of Rs 12 lakh crore has been given to provide cheap fertilizers to the farmers.
