PM Modi gifted development projects worth Rs 18 thousand crores, said – developed Bengal will become the engine of development

Kolkata14 March. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached West Bengal capital Kolkata on Saturday after a two-day visit to Assam, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several national highway projects worth over 420 km costing about Rs 18,860 crore at an event held at the Brigade Parade Ground. Along with this he also launched many other development projects.

Along with gifting various development projects to West Bengal in the election year, PM Modi said that these projects will give new impetus to the development of West Bengal and entire Eastern India. Projects worth more than Rs 18 thousand crore related to road, railway and port infrastructure will increase business, industry and employment opportunities and make people’s lives easier.

New chapter of development of Eastern India

The Prime Minister said that a new chapter of development of West Bengal and Eastern India is being written from the soil of Kolkata. The completion of Kharagpur-Moregram Expressway will accelerate economic activities in many parts of the state. Connectivity will be further improved by Dubrajpur bypass and big bridges being built on Kangsavati and Shilavati rivers. He congratulated the people of West Bengal and Eastern India for these projects.

Emphasis on modernization of railways

PM Modi said that a big campaign of modernization of railways is going on in the country and the central government is ensuring that West Bengal is not left behind in this. Automatic Block Signaling System at Kalaikunda and Kanimahuli section has been dedicated to the nation. This will increase the capacity of the busy rail route, make travel safer and provide better speed and convenience to passengers.

Inauguration of six stations under Amrit Station Scheme

The Prime Minister said that six stations including Kamakhya Gudi, Anara, Tamluk, Haldia, Barabhum and Siuri have been inaugurated as AMRUT stations. A glimpse of the rich culture of Bengal will be visible in these stations. Apart from this, the new express train service between Purulia and Anand Vihar Terminal has also been flagged off, which will benefit the passengers of Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi along with West Bengal.

Port and water transport is getting new momentum

Narendra Modi said that along with roads and rail, ports and water transport also play an important role in development. He said that this potential of Eastern India was neglected for a long time, but now the waterways are opening new opportunities for trade and industry.

Emphasis on modernization of ports

Emphasis is being laid on modernization of ports like Kolkata and Haldia. Haldia Dock Complex is being mechanized, which will speed up cargo handling and increase the capacity of the port. Also, work is being done on renovation of Bascule Bridge in Kolkata Dock System and increasing cargo handling capacity in Khidirpur Dock.

Bengal will become developed with strong connectivity

PM Modi said that these projects related to road, rail and port will open new avenues for the modern future of West Bengal. This will benefit farmers, traders, entrepreneurs and students and will also give impetus to tourism and local industries. He expressed confidence that strong connectivity and modern infrastructure will become the strong foundation of developed Bengal.
