PM Modi held talks with the top leadership of Kuwait News In Hindi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held wide-ranging talks with the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, especially in the areas of trade, investment and energy. The focus was on providing new momentum to India-Kuwait relations.
Modi reached Kuwait on Saturday on a two-day visit. He has reached Kuwait on the invitation of the Amir of Kuwait. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to this Gulf country in the last 43 years.
Earlier, in 1981, the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi had visited Kuwait. Prime Minister Modi will also meet the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah.
Officials had earlier said the talks would focus on strengthening ties in several key areas, including defense and trade.

Modi had addressed an Indian community program on Saturday and also visited an Indian labor camp. India is one of Kuwait's top trading partners and the Indian community is the largest expatriate community in Kuwait.
Kuwait is also one of India's top trading partners and bilateral trade between the two countries stood at US$10.47 billion in FY 2023-24. Kuwait is India's sixth largest crude oil supplier, meeting three percent of the country's energy requirements.(pti)
