Tel Aviv, February 25. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with the ‘Speaker of the Knesset Medal’ on Wednesday evening in Israel’s Parliament ‘Knesset’. He became the first Indian Prime Minister to be awarded this honour. This is considered the highest honor of the Knesset.

Israel’s Parliament, the Knesset, bestowed this honor while appreciating Prime Minister Modi’s contribution in strengthening India-Israel strategic relations. Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to the Knesset and the people of Israel for this honour.

Addressing the Parliament, Prime Minister Modi said that the Indian Parliament has formed a Parliamentary Friendship Group for Israel. Inviting Israeli MPs to visit India, he expressed hope for more dialogue between the MPs of the two countries.

PM Modi said that India is among the fastest growing large economies of the world and can soon make it to the top three economies. He said both countries are committed to expanding trade, strengthening investment flows and promoting joint infrastructure development.

The Prime Minister said that India and Israel are ancient civilizations and there are similarities in the philosophical traditions of both. He said that ‘Tikkun Olam’ in Israel talks about improving the world, while ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ in India gives the message of considering the whole world as one family.

After his historic address in the Knesset and receiving the highest honour, Prime Minister Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu went to the museum in the same car, where they saw the technology exhibition.

After a long program in the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, Prime Minister Modi shared a photo with Netanyahu on social media. In the picture, both the leaders are seen riding in the same car. While sharing the photo, Prime Minister Modi said that after his speech in Parliament, he is going to see an exhibition related to technology.

On the other hand, at the joint dinner, Israeli PM Netanyahu welcomed PM Modi wearing traditional Indian clothes. ‘Before our joint dinner, I surprised my friend Prime Minister Modi by wearing traditional Indian attire,’ she wrote in an ex-post.
