Alphabet and Google Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai says Prime Minister Narendra Modi has encouraged tech leaders to use artificial intelligence (AI) to solve critical issues at the grassroots level. Inspired by this vision of PM Modi, Google is not only making a strong investment in AI in India but is also looking forward to investing more capital in the country.

At the CEO roundtable with PM Modi in New York, Sundar Pichai said that he was deeply impressed by the Prime Minister's focus on transforming the country with the 'Digital India' vision. Sundar Pichai said, “PM Modi has inspired us to continue manufacturing and designing in India. We are now proud to manufacture our Pixel phones in India. PM Modi is really thinking about how AI should benefit the people of India.”

According to the Indian-origin tech leader, PM Modi has challenged them to think about creating applications in health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, data centres, power and energy, etc., so that India can move towards becoming a developed nation.

Google CEO said, “We are strongly investing in AI in India and we look forward to investing even more. We have set up several programs in partnership with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Health, and the central and state governments. The technology giant intends to invest more in India.”

Pichai said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always asked all of us to do more for India. Now, he is asking us to do the same with AI. He understands the potential of AI and knows how this technology can bring positive change in people's lives. He has a clear vision for this.”

PM Modi presented his vision of making India a technological power at a rally of the Indian community abroad. Later, he met top tech and bioscience leaders. After meeting 15 CEOs from chip design and manufacturing, IT and bioscience sectors, PM Modi said in a post on X that he was 'glad to see immense optimism towards India'.
