New Delhi:- Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for a two-day visit to Kuwait on Saturday. This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years. Earlier in 1981, Indira Gandhi had visited Kuwait. This time PM Modi has arrived on the invitation of Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Mashal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. This visit between India and Kuwait will not only strengthen the old relations but will also open avenues of new cooperation.
Will meet the top leadership of Kuwait
Prime Minister Modi will meet the Amir, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Kuwait during his visit. There will be a special focus on trade, energy, investment and cultural cooperation in the talks. A bilateral investment treaty and defense cooperation agreement with Kuwait is expected. This meeting is considered important for the future of both the countries. This tour is expected to give a new direction to the relations between India and Kuwait.
Hala Modi will participate in the program
PM Modi will interact with the Indian expatriate community in Kuwait. This event named 'Hala Modi' will be held at Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Sports Complex in Kuwait. Lakhs of Indian expatriates here are excited to connect with the Prime Minister. Modi will also visit a labor camp where Indian blue-collar workers live. This dialogue is a great honor for the migrants and is being considered as a step towards solving their problems.
Efforts to strengthen India-Kuwait trade relations
Trade relations between India and Kuwait are already strong, but this visit will further deepen them. In 2023-24, trade between the two countries was worth $10.47 billion. Kuwait is India's sixth largest supplier of crude oil and 3% of India's energy needs come from here. Additionally, Kuwait Investment Authority has invested more than $10 billion in India. India's exports from Kuwait have registered an increase of 34.7% compared to last year.
Relations with GCC countries will be strengthened
Kuwait is currently the chairperson of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Kuwait is becoming a strategic partner for India. This visit of PM Modi will further strengthen India's relations with GCC countries. The GCC includes the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait. India's trade with GCC countries stood at $184.46 billion in the financial year 2022-23. This visit will boost cooperation not only between India-Kuwait but in the entire Gulf region.

This visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is considered very important in terms of relations between India and Kuwait. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this visit of PM Modi will not only strengthen the existing partnership but will also open new avenues of future cooperation.
