PM Modi leaves for New Zealand after completing Australia tour, says India-Australia partnership has become stronger
Melbourne, 10 July. Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for New Zealand after completing a successful tour of Australia. Before leaving, he expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, the government and the people of Australia for the warm welcome. The Prime Minister said that this visit has given new strength to the India-Australia strategic partnership and has opened up new opportunities for cooperation in various fields.
PM Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that his visit to Australia was very successful and its positive results will take the relations between the two countries to new heights. He expressed confidence that this growing partnership will benefit both the countries and the entire world in the coming years.
During the tour, Prime Minister Modi and his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese also visited the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Both the leaders took selfies together and met the young players. PM Modi said that sports is a strong medium of friendship between India and Australia, which connects the people of both the countries through shared passion and mutual respect.
The Prime Minister expressed happiness after seeing children playing cricket, kabaddi and Australian rules football at the MCG. He said that sports has an amazing ability to connect people and there is immense potential between India and Australia in the fields of sports cooperation, youth exchange, sports infrastructure and talent development.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Albanese met the sports community at the MCG and also watched exhibition matches of local children. During this, both the countries launched the India-Australia Sports Collaboration Roadmap, which aims to further strengthen people-to-people ties through sports. Prime Minister Modi said that in view of the Commonwealth Games to be held in India in 2030 and the Olympics to be held in Australia in 2032, the sports partnership between the two countries will reach new heights in the next decade.
