Kerala Elections: PM Modi’s big announcement, women will get 33% reservation from 2029 elections; targeted the opposition

PM Modi In Kerala: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a massive NDA rally held in Tiruvalla on Saturday, termed women empowerment as a priority of his government. He said that under the Women’s Reservation Bill, the target of giving 33 percent reservation to women in Parliament and Assemblies has been fixed and it will be implemented by the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

The Prime Minister informed that this bill will be discussed in the Parliament between 16th and 18th April and he appealed to all the parties to reach consensus on it. He also urged the opposition to cooperate constructively.

Lok Sabha seats will not be reduced in Kerala- PM Modi

Rejecting the apprehensions being raised regarding delimitation of seats, PM Modi clearly said that not a single Lok Sabha seat of Kerala and Tamil Nadu will be reduced. He termed it as a rumor and said that an attempt is being made to spread confusion among the people. Let us tell you that the Prime Minister reached Kochi and from there reached Tiruvalla via Changanassery via helicopter. He said that a huge crowd of people gathered on the way and without a road show, a human chain like situation was formed on both sides of the roads.

Targeted at LDF and Congress

Describing women’s welfare as the center of government policies, PM Modi said that his government has paid special attention to housing, drinking water and other basic facilities. He also talked about starting a free cancer vaccine program for adolescent girls. PM Modi said that if there is a ‘double engine’ If the NDA government is formed, these schemes will gain further momentum. Taking aim at the politics of the state, he accused the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) of taking power one by one, but not being able to provide concrete development to the state.

Mentioned the shortcomings of Kottam Medical College

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that despite having potential in sectors like tourism and blue economy, Kerala has lagged behind. He also mentioned the bad roads, lack of major bridges and shortcomings of the Kottayam Medical College. The Prime Minister claimed that the Central Government has given five times more economic assistance to Kerala than the previous Congress governments. He said that assistance worth Rs 13,000 crore has been given to farmers, especially rubber growers. Citing the example of the development of Christian dominated states of North-East and Goa, PM Modi expressed confidence that Kerala can also move forward on the same path.
