PM Modi’s big message from Amman; India-Jordan united against terrorism, what happened to King Abdullah?

PM Modi Jordan Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Jordan’s capital Amman on Monday where he was formally and warmly welcomed by Jordan’s King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein at the Husseiniya Palace. This was followed by bilateral talks between the two leaders, in which extensive discussions were held on further deepening India-Jordan relations.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi thanked King Abdullah II for his friendship and deep commitment towards India. He said that he still remembers the first meeting held on the occasion of the United Nations in 2015 and the conference on Islamic heritage organized during the King’s visit to India in 2018. PM Modi stressed that King Abdullah’s efforts for moderation, peace and against violent extremism are extremely important not only for regional but also global peace.

India and Jordan have the same attitude

On the issue of terrorism, Prime Minister Modi clearly said that the stand of India and Jordan is the same and firm. He appreciated Jordan’s active and positive role on the Gaza issue and said India looks forward to peace and stability in the region. PM Modi said that under the leadership of King Abdullah, Jordan has given a strong and strategic message to the entire world against terrorism, extremism and radicalism.

New energy and direction to relations

The Prime Minister also noted that this year India and Jordan are celebrating the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, which is a historic achievement for the relations between the two countries. He expressed confidence that this milestone will give new energy and direction to relations in the years to come. During the talks, it was agreed to increase cooperation in areas such as trade, fertilizers, digital technology, infrastructure and people-to-people contacts.

Emphasis on new opportunities for economic cooperation

At the same time, King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein described Prime Minister Modi’s visit as a symbol of decades-old friendship, mutual respect and cooperation. He said that over the years, the partnership between the two countries has strengthened in many areas. The King stressed new opportunities for economic cooperation in sectors such as industry, ICT, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and energy.

King Abdullah welcomed the signing of agreements and MOUs during the Prime Minister’s visit, saying that this would open new avenues of cooperation.
