Mumbai, 17 February. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron virtually inaugurated Tata Airbus’ H-125 light utility helicopter final assembly line at Vemagal, Karnataka here. After this both the leaders addressed a joint press conference.
More than 20 agreements announced between the two countries in various fields
During the India-France Summit in the presence of President Macron and PM Modi, more than 20 agreements were announced in various areas of cooperation between the two countries. These include major areas like defence, skilling, technology and health. These agreements will give new strength to the strategic partnership between the two countries.
New depth to strategic partnership
Addressing the joint press conference, Prime Minister Modi said that relations between India and France are extremely special and France is one of India’s oldest strategic partners. He said that working with President Macron has given unprecedented depth and energy to this partnership. On the basis of mutual trust and shared vision, both the countries are taking their relations to the level of special global strategic partnership.

PM Modi said India-France relations are not limited to just strategic cooperation, but symbolize a shared commitment towards global stability and progress. He said that in the current global uncertainties, this partnership is emerging as a positive force for the world.

He said that India and France together will make such a helicopter which will be capable of flying to the height of Mount Everest. It will be manufactured in India and exported to the global market.
New chapter in India-Europe relations
PM Modi said that the year 2026 is proving to be an important turning point in the relations between India and Europe. He mentioned that recently India’s largest and most ambitious Free Trade Agreement has been signed with the European Union, which will also give a new impetus to India-France relations.
Joint Initiative on Future Technology
He said that both the countries will establish Indo-French Center for AI in Health, Indo-French Center for Digital Science and Technology and National Center of Excellence for Aeronautics Skilling. He said that these initiatives will prove to be important platforms for future-building.
Macron thanked PM Modi for the warm welcome
While addressing the joint press conference, French President Emmanuel Macron said, ‘I thank you for the warm welcome I received on my fourth official visit to India. The bilateral relations between India and France are truly extraordinary and special. This relationship is based on trust, openness and ambition. Today we have decided to give a new status to this partnership and take it to the level of Special Strategic Partnership. There is no doubt about this because we have full confidence in this relationship and we have been moving forward in this spirit for the last eight years.
Macron told three big bases of India-France relations
He said, ‘Working together in different areas every year, we have created many new paths. Be it the Indo-Pacific region or technology, where no one should dominate. We strongly believe in the rule of law and have proven this in practice over the years. Be it IMEC, which we started together, or topics like Artificial Intelligence and International Solar Alliance. Over the last eight years we have taken many important initiatives together.
