From Somnath to Siasat: Warning to Bangladesh amid election atmosphere of 5 states! Expert opinion on PM Modi’s speech

Symbol of confluence of history and faith Somnath Temple Once again it is in discussions. The four-day ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’ organized in Somnath, Gujarat is not only important from the religious point of view, but its political and historical implications are also considered to be deep. The presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given more national importance to this event.

This festival has been organized to commemorate the completion of one thousand years of the first attack on the Somnath temple. The senior journalist believes that the historical moments related to Somnath have influenced the direction and condition of Indian politics from time to time and its echo is clearly heard in today’s politics also.

Beginning of Ram Mandir movement

According to senior journalist Suresh Tiwari, who has been covering Indian politics for the last 20 years, Lal Krishna Advani’s Rath Yatra, which started from Somnath, proved to be an important turning point in Indian politics. This journey not only brought national recognition to BJP and Advani, but the name of current Prime Minister Narendra Modi also came into political discussions for the first time. In the Lok Sabha elections of December 1989, BJP included the issue of construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya for the first time in its election manifesto. This had a direct impact on the election results. While in 1984, BJP contested 224 seats and won only 2 seats, in 1989 the party was successful in winning 85 seats.

At that time, movements in support and against the Mandal Commission were going on in many parts of the country. Meanwhile, BJP made the issue of construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya the center of its political strategy. In 1991, when Lal Krishna Advani started the Rath Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya, the responsibility of the Gujarat phase was handed over to Narendra Modi. After about 35 years, today there is a BJP government in the country and ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’ is being organized in the same Somnath, which many experts are seeing as historical continuity and political message.

Upcoming elections and Somnath’s message

This event is also being linked to the upcoming assembly elections to be held in four other states along with Gujarat. Suresh Tiwari explains that “Somnath is a very big center of Hindu religion and this event is very important to tell about the attacks of Muslim invaders. Apart from this, assembly elections are also to be held in 5 states and this whole issue is very suitable for BJP’s strategy.”

Warning to Bangladesh from Somnath!

Before the general elections to be held in February in Bangladesh, the head of the interim government there, Mohammad Yunus, is being accused of taking political advantage by creating an anti-India atmosphere. It is alleged that Yunus and some fundamentalist elements have underestimated the strength of India’s Sanatan and Hindutva while ignoring the attacks and atrocities on minority Hindus in Bangladesh. For these anti-Hindu forces, Prime Minister Modi’s message from Somnath is being seen as a strict warning to Bangladesh.
