PM Modi spoke about sustainable development in UN, talked about getting 25 crore people out of poverty

New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned sustainable development while addressing the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. He said, today I have come here to listen to the voice of one-sixth of humanity… We have lifted 250 million people out of poverty in India and we have shown that sustainable development can be successful. We are ready to share this experience of success with the Global South.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi said that the success of humanity lies in our collective strength, not in the battlefield. Reforms in global institutions are important for global peace and development. Reforms are the key to relevance. He also emphasized that while terrorism remains a serious threat to global peace and security, on the other hand, cyber security, maritime and space are emerging as new areas of conflict. On all these issues, I will emphasize that global action should be in line with global ambition.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized on safe and responsible use of technology and said that balanced regulation is necessary for this. He supported global digital governance, in which the sovereignty and integrity of all countries is maintained. PM said that Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) should act as a bridge and not a barrier. He expressed India's commitment to share DPI for global good. India is firm on the principle of “One Earth, One Family, One Future” and is ready to work in this direction.
