PM Modi speaks to UAE President, condemns attacks on Gulf nation
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his first reaction to the Iran-Israel conflict as he strongly condemned Iran’s attacks on the UAE, stood in solidarity with our Gulf partner, condoled the lives lost, and thanked Sheikh Mohamed for safeguarding over 3.5 million Indians there.
Modi wrote on his social media about interacting with the President of the United Arab Emirates and stated India strongly stands in solidarity with the UAE during this difficult time.
“Spoke with the President of the UAE, my brother Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and condoled the loss of lives in these attacks. India stands in solidarity with the UAE in these difficult times,” PM Modi wrote on his social media
“Thanked him for taking care of the Indian community living in the UAE. We support de-escalation, regional peace, security, and stability,” he added.
This comes after Iran’s strikes on the UAE over the past few days, killing three people and injuring 58 others, PTI reported.
1 Indian was injured during strikes
The Indian Embassy in the UAE confirmed that the authority is in touch with the Indians injured in the strikes; one Indian national was injured but is now out of danger, the embassy confirmed.
Modi’s telephonic conversation with the UAE president came after the tension escalated between Iran and Israel, as with the support of the US, Israel launched air strikes on Iran on Saturday, codenaming them ‘Operation Epic Fury’ and ‘Operation Roaring Lion.’
In the ongoing crisis, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was also killed as US and Israeli strikes killed the leader on Sunday. In response, Iraq targeted the bases of the US, attacking Gulf nations, including the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.
