Attempt to attack Trump
The firing incident took place during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner held at the Hilton Hotel in Washington in the presence of US President Donald Trump and several senior officials. According to reports, all senior US officials including President Trump were safely evacuated from the venue as soon as the sound of firing was heard. This dinner was organized on Saturday night, but after the firing there was chaos in the atmosphere.

Responding to this incident on the social media platform ‘X’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it is a relief to know that President Donald Trump, the First Lady and the Vice President are safe and secure. Wishing everyone safety and well-being, he said there is no place for violence in a democracy and it must be condemned unequivocally.
The attacker who opened fire was arrested
Immediately after the firing, the US Secret Service asked guests to duck under tables. Security personnel immediately reached the stage and secured the entire venue. The attacker who opened fire was arrested on the spot.
