PM Modi visits Jordan Museum, Crown Prince Al Hussein takes him in the car
In a warm diplomatic move, Crown Prince of Jordan Al Hussein bin Abdullah II personally drove Prime Minister Narendra Modi to The Jordan Museum in Amman on December 16, 2025. The Crown Prince, a 42nd-generation direct descendant of Prophet Mohammed, accompanied Modi during the visit, highlighting the strong ties between the two countries.
The Jordan Museum, the country’s largest museum, displays artifacts spanning 1.5 million years of history, including prehistoric animal bones and the 9,000-year-old Ain Ghazal statues.
Modi had arrived in Amman on December 15 for a two-day bilateral visit – the first full-scale visit by an Indian prime minister in decades – to mark 75 years of diplomatic ties. This was the first stop of his three-nation tour, after which he will visit Ethiopia and Oman.
During talks with King Abdullah II at Al Husseiniya Palace, the two leaders reviewed relations and discussed regional/global issues, and reiterated their commitment to peace and stability. Modi proposed doubling bilateral trade to $5 billion and integrating Jordan’s digital payments with India’s UPI.
Key outcomes include an MoU on technical cooperation in renewable energy, water resources management and development, renewal of the Cultural Exchange Program (2025-2029), a twinning agreement between Petra and Ellora for heritage conservation and tourism, and a Letter of Intent on sharing India’s digital public infrastructure solutions.
Modi described these as a “meaningful extension” of the partnership that will promote clean energy, water security, cultural ties and digital transformation.
