New Delhi:- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will represent the Indian government at the swearing-in ceremony of US President-elect Donald Trump as the 47th US President. According to the press release of the Ministry of External Affairs, he will attend the swearing-in ceremony on the invitation of the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee. During this visit, Jaishankar will also meet representatives of the visiting administration as well as some other dignitaries visiting America on that occasion.
At the invitation of the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will welcome President-elect Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States of America, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a press release. Will represent the Indian government at Trump's swearing-in ceremony. The formal event is scheduled to take place on January 20, approximately two weeks after the US Congress certified Trump's Electoral College victory.
Earlier on January 6, Trump's election victory was certified with no objections from any lawmakers before his inauguration as the state count was announced in the House. Donald Trump won 312 electoral votes, while Harris got 226 votes. This was confirmed during the certification on Monday, the final step in the election process before Trump returns to the White House on January 20.
According to The Hill report, when Harris announced Trump's victory, Republican lawmakers in the chamber stood up and applauded. Several lawmakers helped in the counting, including Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senator Deb Fischer and Representatives Brian Steele and Joe Morrell. JD Vance, elected for the post of Vice President, was also present in the House during the counting of votes.
