Bureau Prayagraj- Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation. He accused PM Modi of turning the official address into a political speech, which was full of mudslinging and outright lies.

Kharge said that PM Modi mentioned Congress 59 times in his address, whereas he mentioned women barely a few times. This makes their priorities clear. He claimed that women are not the priority of BJP; Only Congress stands with women.
The Congress President reminded that Congress has always supported women’s reservation. In 2010, the Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha, so that it does not lapse. But BJP could not get that bill passed in the Lok Sabha. Congress also supported the bill brought in 2023. Kharge said the original bill still exists and was notified on April 16.
Kharge demanded the government to immediately implement 33 percent reservation for women in the existing 543 Lok Sabha seats under the 2023 law. Stop linking delimitation bills with women’s reservation bill. This was a delimitation bill, not an amendment to women’s reservation.
Referring to the achievements of Congress, Kharge said that Congress has done Green Revolution, White Revolution, Space Programme, Nuclear Power, Economic Liberalization of 1991, RTI, RTE, MNREGA.
Making serious allegations against BJP, Kharge said that BJP has been anti-women both in its actions and attitude. He mentioned the cases of Hathras, Unnao, Haryana’s women wrestlers, Bilkis Bano and his party saving rapists. Citing NCRB data, he said that crimes against women are highest in BJP ruled states.
In the end, Kharge said that even after being in power for 12.5 years, the government has no solution to inflation, deteriorating economy and the problems of the people.
