PM Modi’s big statement in Lok Sabha, India alert on West Asia crisis, emphasis on maintaining oil-gas supply

Prime Minister Modi said that the current situation in West Asia is very worrying and its impact is being seen at the global level. He said that the Indian government is constantly monitoring the situation and is in touch with various countries, so that the supply of oil and gas is not disrupted. He clarified that the government’s effort is to continue supplying energy resources from wherever possible.

He also referred to the information given earlier by Jaishankar and said that this crisis has been going on for more than three weeks, which is having a negative impact on the lives of common people. He also said that the whole world is striving for a peaceful solution to this conflict. The Prime Minister expressed concern especially about the safety of Indians living in Gulf countries. He said that about one crore Indians work in this sector and a large number of Indians are also working as crew members on sea vessels. In such a situation, this situation becomes even more sensitive for India. He said that it is important that a united and clear message from the Parliament of India reaches the world.
Attacks on commercial ships are unacceptable – PM Modi
Describing the attacks on commercial ships as unacceptable, Modi said that India has always supported peace and dialogue. He told that he himself has talked to many prominent leaders of West Asia and appealed to reduce tension and encouraged all parties to move towards a peaceful solution. Regarding the energy crisis, the Prime Minister said that the government has taken many concrete steps to ensure the supply. He told that earlier India used to import oil from 27 countries, which has now been increased to 41 countries. Apart from this, a special group has been formed, which meets daily to review the problems related to import and export and find solutions.
Mentioned about Hormuz area
The Prime Minister also mentioned the Hormuz region, from where a large amount of crude oil, gas and fertilizers come to India. He said that due to tension in this region, the movement of ships has been affected, but despite this the government is making every possible effort to ensure that energy crisis does not arise in the country. Describing the safety of Indian citizens as the top priority amid the crisis, the Prime Minister informed that till now 3 lakh 75 thousand Indians have been brought back safely. For this, continuous assistance is being provided through 24×7 helpline and special missions. He also said that some Indians have died in the conflict and many have been injured, who are undergoing treatment and are in touch with their families.
Appeal to avoid rumors and be cautious
The Prime Minister appealed for vigilance within the country also. He said that during such a crisis, it is important to avoid rumors and strict action will be taken against those involved in hoarding and black marketing. He has also instructed the states to be strict in this direction. Earlier, the Prime Minister had chaired a high-level meeting on Sunday, in which the preparedness of sectors like petroleum, natural gas, power and fertilizers was reviewed. In the meeting, emphasis was laid on keeping the supply chain strong and ensuring availability of essential commodities.
The situation is tense since 28th February
It is noteworthy that since February 28, there has been a tense situation between America, Israel and Iran, regarding which the opposition was continuously demanding discussion with the government. Now this detailed statement of the Prime Minister is also being considered as the answer to the questions of the opposition. At the same time, today’s agenda of the Parliament also includes introduction of the Corporate Law (Amendment) Bill, 2026 by Nirmala Sitharaman, under which important changes are proposed in the Company Law.
