PM Modi’s message at Seychelles National Day celebrations: ‘Proud to be India’s trusted friend and partner’

Victoria, June 29. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a fresh boost to the growing bilateral relations between India and Seychelles by attending the 50th National Day celebrations of Seychelles as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that India is proud to be a trusted friend and development partner of Seychelles and the friendship between the two countries will grow stronger in the years to come.

Hailing Seychelles’ development journey

In a message shared on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said that it is an honor for him to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of Seychelles’ independence. He said that Seychelles has undertaken a remarkable journey of development in the last 50 years and India has always stood with it in this journey. The Prime Minister said that relations between the two countries are based on shared values, historical ties and deep people-to-people ties, which are growing stronger with time.

Grandeur seen in National Day celebrations

Seychelles military contingents took out a grand parade during the National Day celebrations. The country’s soldiers descended from the aircraft via parachute with the national flag, which added to the attraction of the ceremony. The 50th anniversary of independence was celebrated with enthusiasm and joy throughout the country.

Many prominent personalities were present

At the ceremony, India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam were also present. Prime Minister Modi has arrived on a state visit at the invitation of Dr. Patrick Herminy, President of Seychelles. During this time he was also awarded Seychelles’ highest civilian honor ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ for his contribution to environmental protection and sustainable development.

India-Seychelles relations will get new strength

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, relations between India and Seychelles are based on historical, cultural and people-to-people ties. Seychelles is an important maritime partner of India in the Indian Ocean region and has an important role in the ‘MAHASAGAR’ vision and India’s commitment to the Global South. The ministry said that the Prime Minister’s visit will further strengthen bilateral cooperation in defence, maritime security, trade, development and other areas.

Indian Army and Navy graced the occasion

The Assam Regiment of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and the Indian Navy Marching Band also participated in the National Parade organized on the Golden Jubilee of Independence Day. It is considered a symbol of the long-standing defense partnership between the two countries. Apart from this, Indian Navy warships INS Tarkash and INS Ikshak arrived at Port Victoria, highlighting the strong maritime cooperation between India and Seychelles.

Celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations

This year marks the completion of 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles. This visit of Prime Minister Modi is being considered as an important step to give a new direction to the deep friendship, strategic partnership and future cooperation of the two countries.
