PM Modi’s message on West Bengal Day – New era of development and good governance begins in Bengal

Tarakeshwar (Hooghly), June 20. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the West Bengal Day celebrations organized in Tarakeswar, West Bengal on Saturday evening, said that after the political change in the state, a new chapter of development and good governance has started. He said that the happiness and confidence visible on the faces of the people of Bengal indicate that the state is now moving towards building a new future. The Prime Minister said that one vote of the people has made a big change possible and now its impact is visible through development projects.

West Bengal Day described as historical occasion

Describing West Bengal Day as an important occasion related to the history and cultural heritage of the state, PM Modi said that it is not just a date, but a day to remind of the struggles and sacrifices due to which West Bengal remained a part of India. He said that at the time of independence, many people had played an important role in saving the identity and identity of Bengal.

Mentioned the contribution of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee

Prime Minister Modi said that when efforts were being made to make the whole of Bengal a part of Pakistan, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee raised his voice against it and created a massive mass movement to save Bengal. He said that scientist Meghnad Saha, historian R.C. Majumdar, Jadunath Sarkar and many other intellectuals also contributed to this movement. The Prime Minister alleged that in later years this history was not given enough importance due to political reasons.

Congress, Attack on left parties and Trinamool Congress

Taking aim at the Congress, Left parties and Trinamool Congress, he said that development was hampered in the state for decades due to misgovernance and appeasement politics. He alleged that there was migration of industries, employment opportunities decreased and the problem of illegal infiltration increased. The Prime Minister said that the new government is giving priority to transparent administration and rule of law.

Mention of development projects and farmer schemes

The Prime Minister said that projects worth hundreds of crores of rupees related to railways, roads, agriculture and fisheries have been inaugurated and foundation stones laid in the state. He said that under the 23rd installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, about Rs 19 thousand crore has been transferred to the accounts of more than nine crore farmers across the country. Besides, it was also announced to start PM Crop Insurance Scheme in West Bengal.

Claiming benefits of Ayushman Bharat and other schemes

PM Modi said that steps are being taken to fulfill the promises made during the elections. He said that the poor families of the state will get the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Scheme, women are being benefited from various welfare schemes and an agreement has been reached between the Central and State Governments to carry forward the work of Jal Jeevan Mission.

Emphasis on agricultural reforms and digital agriculture

The Prime Minister said that West Bengal is now connecting with Digital Agriculture Mission and Agri-Stack. With this, farmer registry will be prepared and information related to farming will be available in digital form. He informed that Purulia, Darjeeling, Alipurduar and Jhargram have been included in PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana, where work will be done to improve agricultural productivity and basic facilities.

Appeal to adopt natural farming

PM Modi urged farmers to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and promote natural farming. He said that the Central Government is running ‘Save Farm Campaign’, the objective of which is to protect the health of the soil and save fertile land for the future generations.

Emphasis on the role of Eastern India in developed India

Prime Minister Modi said that Eastern India will play an important role in achieving the goal of developed India by the year 2047. He said that the development of Eastern India is being given impetus through Mission Purvodaya and West Bengal will play a major role in this.

Call for greater participation from common people in Yoga Day

It is noteworthy that PM Modi, who reached West Bengal on a two-day tour via Odisha, will participate in a yoga program in Kolkata on the occasion of International Yoga Day. He appealed to the people of the state to participate in Yoga Day programs in large numbers and make Yoga a mass movement. He said that the message coming from the land of Swami Vivekananda and Maharishi Aurobindo will guide the entire world.
