Launch of free HPV vaccination : PM Narendra Modi launched a nationwide campaign for development works and free HPV vaccination from Ajmer, Rajasthan. During this, PM talked to girls in Ajmer. Under this campaign, about 1.15 crore adolescent girls aged 14 years across the country will be given free HPV vaccination at government health centres. The aim of this campaign is to protect girls from cervical cancer, a disease that remains a major health concern in India.

In Ajmer, PM Modi launched several development works and a nationwide campaign for HPV vaccination. Along with this he distributed appointment letters to the newly recruited youth in government departments and organizations in Rajasthan. According to the Union Health Ministry, under the free HPV vaccination campaign, free Gardasil-4 vaccine will be administered at government health centers across the country. During this time, experts also emphasized on screening along with vaccination.

Let us tell you that cervical cancer remains the second biggest threat among women in India. In the last few years, about 80,000 new cases of cervical cancer and more than 42,000 deaths have been reported every year. The government has started a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign to prevent this disease. All girls aged 9 to 14 years must get the HPV vaccine. This vaccine reduces the risk of cervical cancer by about 98 percent.
