Pm Narendra Modi Participates In The 150th Foundation Day Program Of Indian Meteorological Department

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 150th Foundation Day program of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) held at the Bharatiya Mandapam on Tuesday. PM gave a 25 minute speech here. During this he talked about the development of IMD, its importance and challenges. During the program he said that today all the updates related to weather are available on WhatsApp. There were many cyclones in the last 10 years, but we reduced the loss of life to zero or minimum. In previous governments, when thousands of lives were lost in such natural disasters, it was dismissed as destiny.

Addressing the program, PM Modi said that the progress of scientific institutions of any country shows its awareness towards science. Research and innovation in scientific institutions is part of the temperament of the new India. Therefore, IMD's infrastructure and technology has expanded in the last 10 years. Many such modern infrastructures like Automatic Weather Station, Runway Weather Monitoring System, District Wise Rainfall Monitoring have been added.

India should be prepared for every weather situation- PM

Meteorology is getting the benefit of India's space technology and digital technology. Today the country has two metrological observatories named Maitreyi and Bharati in Antarctica. Last year, supercomputers named Artha and Arunika have been started. Due to this, the credibility of the weather department has increased more than before. In future, India should be prepared for every weather situation.
