Arjun Erigaysi won bronze medal at the World Blitz Championship. Arjun faced defeat against Abdusatorov in the semi-finals. Abdusatorov defeated Arjun 2.5-0.5. Erigaysi became the sole leader with 10 points in 13 games, defeating veterans like Carlsen and Abdussaturov. He played brilliantly in six rounds on Tuesday. Arjun won four matches and drew two, and secured a place in the semi-finals with 15 points.
Arjun lost in the semi-finals
At one point in the semi-finals, 2021 World Rapid Champion Abdusattorov and Arjun were on 13 points each. Arjun, who defeated Abdusattorov on Monday, was expected to win again, but he could not capitalize on the lead with white in the first game and lost in 47 moves.
Second Indian after Vishwanath Anand
Earlier on Sunday, Erigassi had also secured third position in Rapid. Winning two bronze medals is a big achievement for 22-year-old Erigaysi. With this achievement, Erigasi becomes the ‘Open Category’ in the World Blitz after Viswanathan Anand. Has become the second Indian male player to win a medal.

World No. 1 chess player Magnus Carlsen once again demonstrated his brilliant game and won the World Blitz title for a record ninth time. In the women’s category, Bibisara Asaubaeva of Kazakhstan made headlines by winning the title of World Blitz Champion.
