PNB Scam: The law has a really long arm, Choksi got the biggest blow ever from Belgium.

News India Live, Digital Desk: We all have been hearing since childhood that “the arm of the law is very long”, but today this saying seems to be true. Mehul Choksi, an accused in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam worth thousands of crores of rupees and a fugitive from India, who was living a life of luxury abroad after leaving the country, is now facing no end of troubles. The recent news that has come from Belgium is no less than a big victory for the Indian investigative agencies. Come, let us tell you in simple language what happened and what benefit India will get from it. Belgium Supreme Court showed ‘red signal’ Mehul Choksi, who is also Nirav Modi’s maternal uncle, was trying to avoid arrest and return to India by using his legal tricks. But this time his fate has turned upside down. According to reports, the Supreme Court of Belgium has rejected the ‘Final Plea’ of Choksi, which he had filed in his defence. In simple words, the last door which Choksi had knocked to escape has also now been closed. This decision of the court is a huge step for the Government of India and our investigating agencies (CBI/ED). What will happen now? Will Choksi come to India? This decision is also important because it clears the way for the process of “extradition” i.e. bringing him back to India. Till now Choksi was stalling the process by resorting to legal complications. But this strict stance of the Belgian court has proved that the courts around the world are now becoming strict against fugitive economic criminals. Officials believe that after this decision, the process of bringing Mehul Choksi to India will not take much time. This is a warning to all those fugitives who think that it is easy to run away from India with money and have fun abroad. What is special in this for the general public? We common Indians want that the money that was looted from the banks of the country should be returned and the culprits should be punished. This news from Belgium gives us hope that justice will definitely be done. Even though it took some time, the screws have now been tightened. Currently, Indian agencies are preparing for the next legal steps. It will be interesting to see what new trick Mehul Choksi tries now, or has his “homecoming” ticket been cut.
