Police alert in Bhopal on Friday prayers, security increased in sensitive areas, Police Commissioner appealed to maintain peace.
In view of Friday prayers, security arrangements have been tightened in Bhopal city. In fact, additional police forces have been deployed in highly sensitive areas of the capital and outside major mosques. The police administration is on high alert mode since morning so that any untoward incident can be prevented and peace is maintained in the city. This security arrangement has been made in view of a recent incident and the subsequent warning of protests.
Why is there an atmosphere of tension?
In fact, the incident of assault on a Muslim youth a few days ago had created an atmosphere of tension in the city. In this incident, cow dung was smeared on the face of the young man and ink was smeared on it. AIMIM State President Mohsin Gautam had expressed a strong reaction regarding this matter. He had demanded immediate arrest of the accused involved in the incident. Mohsin Gautam had warned on Tuesday that if no concrete action was taken against the accused by Friday, his party would hold a fierce protest. After this warning, the police administration immediately came into action and took the situation seriously.
The police took immediate action in this case and arrested a total of five people and sent them to jail. Strict legal action has been taken against the accused, information about which has been given by Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar himself. He said that all necessary steps have been taken to maintain law and order and the accused will not be spared.
Appeal to maintain peace and harmony
Religious leaders and administrative officials have also played an active role in maintaining peace and harmony in the city. Bhopal city Qazi Mushtaq Ali Nadvi has issued a video message appealing to the city residents to maintain peace. He has urged everyone not to be misled by anyone and not to take any wrong step. City Qazi has said that Bhopal is a city of Ganga-Jamuni culture and all communities should live together here.
In this series, Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar has also appealed to all the communities of the city to maintain peace and brotherhood. He clarified that the police administration will not allow any anti-social element to disturb the peace of the city. He also reiterated that strict action has already been taken against the accused and the police is fully prepared.
Additional security forces deployed
As part of security arrangements, special vigil is being maintained outside all the mosques of Itwara area. Additionally, additional security forces have also been deployed at other important places in the old city including the city’s historical and prominent mosques such as Tajul Masjid, Kulsoom Biya Masjid at Budhwara, Moti Masjid, Jama Masjid and Peergate. Policemen are continuously patrolling these areas and keeping an eye on suspicious activities. Friday prayers will be offered in different mosques of the city from 12:40 pm to 2:45 pm, in view of which security will be even tighter during this period. The police administration has appealed to the people for cooperation and urged them not to pay attention to rumours.
