Police Commemoration Day: CM Yogi increased the uniform allowance of UP Police, the government will have to spend Rs 58 crore

Lucknow. On Police Commemoration Day on Monday, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced to increase the uniform allowance of policemen by 70 percent. This will entail an expenditure of Rs 58 crore which will be borne by the government. CM Yogi made this announcement on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.

Apart from this, the hurdles in getting the ex-gratia amount to the legal heirs of the deceased policemen will be eliminated. Rs 47 crore will be provided for residential allowance of constables and head constables living in barracks, the benefit of which will be available to about 25 percent of the personnel. To provide better facilities to the players in the police force, now Rs 10 crore will be given instead of Rs 70 lakh. Corpus fund of Rs 1380 crore will be given for better maintenance of residences of policemen.

Yogi paid tribute to two martyred policemen

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday paid tribute to two martyred policemen in the police lines on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day. During this, he also honored the families of martyred policemen. Every year on 21st October, Police Commemoration Day is organized in the memory of martyred policemen in the state. This year, tribute was paid to two police personnel Rohit Kumar and Sachin Rathi.

On June 8, 2024, constable Rohit Kumar, posted at Nawabganj police station in Fatehgarh district, along with fellow policemen had gone to raid on information about illegal mining. A biker was showing the way to a tractor trolley engaged in illegal mining. Rohit chased the bike rider. During this, the accused hit Rohit's bike. Due to this, Rohit was hit by the tractor trolley. Rohit had died in this incident. At the same time, on December 25, 2023, constable Sachin Rathi, posted at Chhibramau police station in Kannauj district, had gone with the police team to raid the smugglers. During this time, Sachin was shot in the firing by smugglers. Sachin died during treatment.
