Police Day becomes a joke, hopes of justice are dashed, ‘bag of notes’ decides the scale of decision

Mirzapur. ’Police Day’, which was started for speedy disposal of serious and pending cases, has now become a mere government formality. This platform which claims to provide quick and fair justice to the public has now become the victim of corruption. The ground reality is that instead of providing justice to the victims, Police Station Day has now become the safest way to line the pockets of accountants and ‘karkhas’ (middlemen/special operatives) of police stations.

Heavy ‘police system’ on the orders of officers
On this day, big administrative officials organize public gatherings and issue strict instructions. But as soon as the officers leave in their vehicles, their orders surrender before the police system. These orders, which prove to be dwarf in front of the influential people, remain buried in the files and the victim is forced to run from door to door in search of justice.

Even stone pelting is ineffective, an orgy of bullies on the strength of khaki*
The limit is reached when the Revenue Department does proper measurement and legally erects the embankment. Legally, after this the actual owner should have rights over the land, but the ground reality is the opposite. Despite being stonewalled, the powerful people do not allow the victim to occupy his own land with the protection and force of the local police. When the victim goes to the police, the police, who teach the lessons of law, stand as a shield from the bullies. Emboldened by the support of the police, the bullies are openly flouting the law.
 * Game of high grip and money bag

The bitter truth of Police Day is that here it is not the sobs of the victim but the ‘bag of notes’ that tilts the scales of justice. The higher the grip and the heavier the pocket, the easier his work. The script of the game played in the name of spot investigation in land disputes is written jointly by police station clerks and light accountants.

* Sir, the pain of the victims was pelted with stones after getting the measurement done from the court and the revenue department. But the opposition is powerful and has colluded with the police. Now with the help of police they are not allowing us to set foot on our own land. On Police Day, only assurance is given, no action.

*’All is well’ on paper, justice missing on ground*
Week after week the figures of disposal of complaints are shown in crores, but on the ground only date after date is available. The system that pretends to do its work honestly has created a feeling of distrust towards the law in the minds of the common man.

If the open robbery business going on in the name of ‘Police Station Day’ and this nexus of khaki-domineering people is not curbed in time, then the day is not far when the victims will stop going to this last door of justice. It remains to be seen when the top officials will run hunter on this system or whether this joke will continue like this.
