Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police has filed a charge sheet in the case of stampede during the special screening of the film Pushpa-2. In this, 24 persons including actor Allu Arjun have been made accused. Allu Arjun has been named as A-11 and Sandhya Theater owner as A-1 in the charge sheet submitted by the Chikkadpally police. Apart from this, names of theater management, Allu Arjun’s manager, personal staff and eight bouncers are also included.

The police have clarified in the charge sheet that the stampede occurred as a result of the negligence of the evening theater management. Investigation into the matter found that proper arrangements were not made in view of the huge crowd of viewers of Allu Arjun. Due to this incident, charges have been filed against the theater owner under IPC section 304-A (causing death by negligence). According to the police report, Allu Arjun was listed as an accused, indicating that he continued his journey despite the threat of the mob.

Stampede during premiere screening

It is known that a huge crowd had gathered to watch Allu Arjun during the premiere screening at RTC X Roads, Hyderabad on December 4, 2024. Revathi, a 35-year-old woman, died in the stampede, while her minor son Shretej suffered serious complications due to lack of oxygen. During investigation, it was found that the incident occurred due to negligence of the management and non-following of safety protocols.

Theater management and security issues

Despite being aware of the actor’s presence, the theater management did not implement proper crowd control measures. The chargesheet mentions that Allu Arjun has been named for carrying forward his program in a high-risk situation and not coordinating properly with the local authorities.

The list of 24 persons involved in this entire incident also includes Allu Arjun’s personal manager, his staff and eight bouncers. The police report mentioned several security lapses, such as the absence of separate entry and exit arrangements for VIP guests. During the investigation it was also found that the police had refused to allow the actor’s presence due to security concerns.

Investigators have alleged that improper movement of security teams and gestures towards the crowd worsened the situation. The theater owners have been charged under Section 304-A of the Indian Penal Code and several other sections, including causing hurt and endangering public safety.
