Political battle on women’s safety in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav releases list of 14 rape cases
digital desk- In recent times, incidents of brutality against women and innocent girls in Bihar have raised serious questions on the law and order of the state. Politics has also intensified regarding these incidents. Working National President of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav has made a scathing attack on the ‘double engine’ government of the state. Tejashwi Yadav shared a list of 14 alleged rape incidents that occurred recently on his social media platform ‘X’. Through this post, he tried to put Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the Narendra Modi government at the Center in the dock. In the post, Tejashwi sarcastically wrote that “such incidents are happening every day in the so-called Ramrajya built by the tax lotuses of the Modi-Nitish government that even the media is having difficulty in describing it.” He claimed that incidents of rape of girls ranging from one and a half year old to 11 years old have come to light. Tejashwi alleged that criminals are fearless in the state because they have the protection of the government.
Questions on PM’s visits also
Tejashwi Yadav also took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s possible visit to Bihar. He said that the Prime Minister will come to Bihar during the election season, but will return after tarnishing the image of the state. Tejashwi alleged that the silence of the Central and State governments on the recent gruesome incidents indicates “tacit acceptance”. He also said that crime is at its peak in the state and incidents like gang rape are happening with girls. The Leader of Opposition raised the question as to what action the government is taking in these cases and when will the culprits be given strict punishment.
‘Useless government should answer’
In his post, Tejashwi Yadav described the government as ‘useless’ and said, “Give a brave reply.” He says that unless the government takes strict action against the criminals, the safety of women and girls cannot be ensured. He demanded that all these cases should be investigated impartially and the culprits should be punished immediately. The issue of women’s safety in Bihar has been the center of political debate before, but recent incidents have made it more sensitive. While the opposition is accusing the government of failing to control crime, a formal response to these allegations is still awaited from the government.
