Political mathematics intensified in Rajya Sabha elections, Hemant expected double bonus, Nathwani resorted to cross voting.

Ranchi: The elections for two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand have heated up the political atmosphere. Let us tell you, this time three candidates are in the fray, including Baijnath Ram of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) from the Indian Alliance and Pranab Jha of Congress, while independent candidate Parimal Nathwani has the support of NDA. Before the voting, all the parties are claiming their respective victories.

Who has the most support?

On the basis of current numerical strength in the Assembly, India Alliance seems to be in a strong position. Let us tell you, the Grand Alliance has the support of 56 MLAs in the 81-member House, which includes MLAs from JMM, Congress, RJD and Left parties. At the same time, BJP led NDA has 24 MLAs. To win one Rajya Sabha seat, 28 votes are required, so mathematically the Grand Alliance can win both the seats.

Bet may be lost in cross voting

However, the competition is not considered to be that easy. NDA-backed independent candidate Parimal Nathwani will need extra votes to win. Political experts believe that if cross voting takes place then the electoral equation can change. This is the reason why both the parties are busy in keeping their respective MLAs united.

Hemant Soren’s claim

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed confidence that the India Alliance will win both the seats. He claims that the alliance has the support of more than the prescribed number of MLAs. On the other hand, Parimal Nathwani and BJP leaders have also expressed confidence of victory. BJP says that some MLAs can vote on the basis of their conscience and political thinking.

eyes fixed on voting

Jharkhand politics has a history of cross-voting during Rajya Sabha elections, so this time also everyone’s eyes are on voting. The grand alliance appears relatively confident about the victory of Baijnath Ram, while a tough contest is expected between Congress candidates Pranab Jha and Parimal Nathwani on the other seat. Now the final decision will come only after voting and counting of votes, from which it will be clear whether numerical strength or political strategy has prevailed.
