Political reshuffle intensifies in Bihar BJP, Sanjay Saraogi becomes new state president…will replace Dilip Jaiswal

Bihar :Making a major change in the organizational structure, Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed Sanjay Saraogi, a six-time MLA from Darbhanga, as the new president of Bihar BJP. He will replace the current state president Dilip Kumar Jaiswal. The party leadership has taken this decision at a time when the organization was feeling the need for strong leadership in view of the upcoming political challenges in Bihar.

Record of victory in six consecutive elections
Sanjay Saraogi’s political journey has been associated with continuous victories from Darbhanga assembly constituency. He achieved success in the assembly elections of February 2005, October 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2025. In the 2025 elections, he defeated Vikassheel Insaan Party candidate Umesh Sahni by a margin of 24,593 votes, which shows his strong support base and political hold.

Initial electoral success and edge over the opposition
Sanjay Saraogi first entered the Assembly in February 2005, when he defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Mohammad Mumtaz. In the elections held in October of the same year, he further strengthened his position by defeating Congress candidate Dr. Madan Mohan Jha. After this, in 2010 he defeated RJD’s Sultan Ahmed by a huge margin, while in 2015 and 2020 also he won against RJD candidates.

Administrative experience as a minister
Sanjay Saraogi has also served as the Revenue and Land Reforms Minister in the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government. Considering his administrative experience, clean image and organizational efficiency, the BJP leadership has selected him for the important responsibility of state president. The party hopes that under his leadership the organization will become stronger at the grassroots level.

Movement of change of leadership at national level
Meanwhile, BJP’s newly appointed National Working President Nitin Nabin formally took charge at the party headquarters in Delhi. On this occasion, many senior leaders including BJP President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were present, which indicated the political importance of this appointment.

Who is Nitin Nabin?
45 year old Nitin Nabin is a well-known name in Bihar politics. He has been a minister in the Nitish Kumar government and has been elected MLA from Bankipur assembly seat of Patna five times. Nabeen, son of veteran BJP leader and former MLA Nabeen Kishore Prasad Sinha, is considered an active, ideologically strong and disciplined leader in the organization. He also has an old association with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Organizational Experience and Future Role
According to party sources, Nitin Nabin has effectively performed organizational responsibilities while being a minister in Bihar and as party in-charge of Chhattisgarh. This is the reason why he has been made the National Working President and in future he can also be seen in the role of National President as the successor of JP Nadda. This appointment is being considered a sign of generational leadership change in BJP.

New chapter for Bihar BJP
The new roles of Sanjay Saraogi and Nitin Nabin are being considered an important step towards organizational strength and strategic stability for BJP. The party leadership believes that the experience and leadership ability of these two leaders will benefit BJP in the upcoming elections at the national level including Bihar.
