Political turmoil in Bengal: Shah made fun of Mamata’s illness! Said- ‘The public knows everything’
With the arrival of West Bengal Assembly elections 2026, the politics of the state has come to a boil. As the election dates approach, the round of attacks and counter-attacks has also intensified. On Saturday (March 28, 2026), Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a scathing attack on Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Shah made many serious allegations, taking a dig at the Chief Minister’s way of working and his behavior during elections.
Mamta Banerjee accused of playing ‘victim card’
Addressing a press conference held in Kolkata, Amit Shah said that Mamata Banerjee has always done ‘Victim Card’ politics. Shah sarcastically said, “Mamata ji’s style of politics is old. Sometimes her leg gets broken, sometimes she ties a bandage on her head, sometimes she suddenly falls ill. Not only this, during the elections she makes herself look poor and abuses the constitutional institution like the Election Commission.” Shah further said that the people of Bengal have now understood this politics very well and insulting constitutional institutions does not suit the great culture of Bengal.
‘Disastrous’ report card of 15 years of Mamta government
During his Kolkata visit, the Home Minister released a ‘charge sheet’ on the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. During this, he fiercely cornered the Mamta government on the issues of deteriorating law and order, infiltration and national security. Shah directly linked the Bengal elections to national security. He claimed that infiltration through Bengal has become a major threat not only to the state but also to the entire country.
Big claim on infiltration and border security
Giving the example of Assam, Amit Shah said, “After the BJP government came to power in Assam, infiltration has been curbed to a great extent. But West Bengal still remains an easy and sensitive route for infiltrators.” He warned that illegal immigrants were taking away jobs and resources that were rightful to the local people. Shah alleged that the Mamata government did not provide land for fencing about 600 kilometers of the India-Bangladesh border. Making an election promise, he said that if BJP government is formed in Bengal, then the fencing work will be completed by solving the land issue within just 45 days.
Stance on fuel prices and oil companies
During this press conference, the Home Minister also gave indications of relief to the general public. He appealed to the oil companies not to increase fuel prices at present. This statement of Shah has come at a time when elections are round the corner and inflation remains a major election issue. His stance is being seen as an attempt to provide relief to the public from inflation.
