Politics, Congress, Akali Dal accused Dr. Manmohan Singh's funeral of insult, preparations for last farewell at Nigam Bodh Ghat

The last rites of Dr. Manmohan Singh will be held at Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi. The Home Ministry has given this information. The funeral is scheduled at 11.45 am with full state honours. Congress has alleged that the Central Government is insulting the funeral and memorial of the first Sikh Prime Minister.

Akali Dal called it an insult

Akali Dal President and former Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhwinder Singh Badal has called it an insult to the Sikh Prime Minister. He has written on social media

Shocking and unbelievable! It is highly condemnable that the Central Government has rejected the request of the family of Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji to perform the last rites and last rites of this great leader at a place where his incomparable services can be remembered. A suitable and historical monument can be built for this. This place should be Rajghat. This will be in line with the tradition and practices adopted in the past.
It is beyond comprehension why the government is showing such disrespect towards this great leader, who was the only person from the Sikh community to become the Prime Minister of the country.
At present, his last rites are going to be performed at the general cremation ground of Nigambodh Ghat. I find it difficult to believe that the bias of the BJP government can go to such an extent that it completely ignores the global fame and great stature of Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji.
Dr. Manmohan Singh took the country to great heights at the international level. Despite our political differences with the Congress, we have always held Dr. Manmohan Singh in the highest respect because he is above politics and political affiliations. They belong to the entire nation.
Dr. Saheb dealt with Shiromani Akali Dal with great sensitivity and compassion on issues related to Sikhs and Punjab. I urge Prime Minister @narendramodi ji to personally intervene to reverse this condemnable decision.

Congress had written a letter

On the Congress side, Jairam Ramesh has also accused the Central Government of insulting Dr. Manmohan Singh.

This morning, the Congress President had written a letter to the Prime Minister proposing that the last rites of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh be performed at a place where a memorial could be built to honor his legacy.
