Pollution and weather hit Delhi-NCR, AQI close to 500, dense fog becomes a problem

Noida, 29 December. Delhi-NCR is currently struggling badly with pollution and weather. According to the latest data from the Indian Meteorological Department and Air Quality Monitoring System, the air quality index in the entire NCR has gone from very poor to severe category. In many areas, AQI was recorded very close to 500, which is having a serious impact on normal life. Talking about Greater Noida, AQI 375 has been recorded in Knowledge Park-3 and AQI 436 has been recorded in Knowledge Park-5.

Whereas, AQI was recorded 444 in Sector-1 of Noida, 434 in Sector-116, 406 in Sector-125 and 382 in Sector-62. The situation is worrying in Ghaziabad also. AQI was recorded at 374 in Indirapuram, 447 in Loni, 370 in Sanjay Nagar and 401 in Vasundhara. The situation in Delhi also remains very serious. AQI was recorded at 455 in Anand Vihar, 456 in Vivek Vihar, 442 in Rohini, 444 in Sonia Vihar, 443 in Wazirpur, 427 in Ashok Vihar, 426 in Punjabi Bagh and 421 in Chandni Chowk.

Apart from this, 411 AQI was recorded in Bawana, 410 in DTU, 388 in CRRI Mathura Road and 397 in Burari Crossing. According to experts, this level is extremely dangerous not only for sick people but also for healthy people. Talking about the weather, today there is a blanket of dense fog in the entire NCR. Visibility has reached almost zero in many areas, due to which road and rail traffic has been badly affected. According to IMD, an alert of ‘very dense fog’ was issued in the morning of 29 December. At the same time, the situation of ‘dense fog’ continued on 30 December and ‘moderate fog’ on 31 December.

According to the forecast, NCR will be generally cloudy on January 1 and there are chances of light rain or drizzle. The maximum temperature on this day is expected to be around 21 degrees Celsius and the minimum is expected to be 10 degrees Celsius. Moderate fog is also expected in the morning on January 2 and 3, where the minimum temperature may drop to 8 to 9 degrees. Experts have advised people to avoid going out unnecessarily, use masks and children, elderly and respiratory patients need to take special precautions.
