On the occasion of ‘World Oral Health Day’, a special initiative dedicated to the health of police personnel was taken by the Anpara unit of Indian Dental Association (IDA), Sonbhadra. A one-day free dental checkup and awareness camp was successfully organized in the Anpara police station premises in which the officers and jawans of the police department participated enthusiastically.

The team of Dr. Sangeeta Bharti, Dr. Bhavya Srivastava and Dr. Joshua Leo, among the well-known dental experts of the area, provided their services in the camp. Doctors microscopically examined the teeth and gums of the police personnel through modern equipment. During this, the soldiers were explained in detail about common problems like pyorrhoea, cavity (tooth decay) and swelling of gums.

Addressing the camp, dental experts said that the duty of police personnel is extremely difficult and has irregular timings. In this busy routine, they often ignore their health, especially oral health. Doctors advised that brushing twice a day with proper technique, balanced diet and periodic dental checkups can prevent future serious diseases. The main attraction of the camp was the awareness campaign against tobacco and smoking. Doctors warned police personnel about the early symptoms of ‘oral cancer’ caused by tobacco consumption and its fatal consequences. The employees present were given an oath to give up drug addiction and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

At the conclusion of the program, on behalf of Anpara police administration, station in-charge Satyendra Kumar Rai and his team highly praised this public welfare initiative of the Indian Dental Association. He said that such camps not only improve the health of the soldiers but also inspire them to be conscious about their health. In the end, all the doctors were thanked for their selfless service.
