After the death of Prasad Savkar, actor and singer Amol Bawdekar has paid tributes in very emotional words on social media. He wrote in his post, “An avaliya gone, an era of music has come to an end… A touching tribute! Today a shining star of music theater, a legend Reverend Mr. Prasad Savkar (my beloved Appa) passed into eternity at the age of 98. Today he breathed his last and music theater became a baby.”

He further mentioned his personal relationship with Prasad Savkar. “My father used to listen to Appa’s songs and make me listen to them. He would always tell me, ‘Amol, if you want to sing, sing like him.’ My luck is that I got a golden opportunity to work with Appa himself in the play ‘Avgharang’,” he said.

He went on to write, “He played my father in the play—he was the father and I was the son! It’s the biggest accumulation of my life. But this relationship was not limited to the play or the stage. The play closed, the years passed, but Appa never let his love for me diminish.”

He further said, “Though he was my father in the drama, he treated me like a grandfather. He always showered me with love and blessings and those blessings will stay with me forever.”

He also mentioned his personal grief over the demise of Prasad Savkar. “Appa is gone today… I lost a rightful, magical hand on my head. This golden age of musical theater will now live only in memories. Prostrate at your feet and soulful tributes, Appa! Your memories and the magic you gave will remain in my heart forever. Om Shanti!” He expressed his feelings in such words.
