Prasar Bharati launches free OTT app 'Waves': India's public broadcaster Doordarshan has announced its OTT (over-the-top) platform 'Waves'. The platform aims to refresh nostalgia while embracing modern digital trends by offering a rich mix of classic content and contemporary programming. With a library of timeless shows like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Shaktimaan and Hum Log, the platform attracts audiences seeking cultural and emotional connections with India's past. Additionally, it also provides news, documentaries and regional content.

'Waves' will offer content in more than 12 languages – Hindi, English, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Punjabi, Assamese. It will span over 10 genres of infotainment.
India's public broadcaster Prasar Bharati on Wednesday launched its OTT app 'Waves', through which users can access the vast archives of Doordarshan and All India Radio. Currently, there are around 40 live channels available on the app, including popular channels from broadcasters like B4U, ABZY, SAB Group and 9X Media as well as news channels like India Today, News Nation, Republic, ABP News, News24 and NDTV India .
“We are trying to give clean and family entertainment,” Prasar Bharti Chairman Navneet Kumar Sehgal said during the International Film Festival of India in Panaji, Goa. ” Sehgal said the OTT app also offers many other services such as news, easy shopping facilities by connecting to the ONDC network, games and movies. He said, “All our (Prasar Bharati) archives are also available. You can relive your childhood by watching your favorite shows.”
