Prayagraj: Air Force’s light aircraft meets with accident due to technical fault, both pilots safe
Prayagraj, 21 January. An ultra-light, two-seater aircraft of the Indian Air Force met with an accident here on Wednesday due to a technical fault in the engine. Officials said that both the pilots on board the plane are safe.
The Air Force said in a post on ‘X’ that it has ordered an investigation to find out the cause of the incident. Such extremely light (microlight) aircraft are commonly used in training, bird surveying and land surveying operations. The accident occurred when the plane was on a routine flight. The aircraft’s recovery (parachute) system was activated during the accident and ‘both pilots are safe.’
The Air Force said in the post, ‘On January 21, at 12.15 pm, an Air Force microlight aircraft developed a technical snag during a routine flight from Bamrauli Air Force Station near Prayagraj and landed safely in a deserted area with no loss of life or property.’
Prayagraj Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Manish Shandilya said that the plane was flying towards Phaphamau and Sangam area when there was a technical fault in its engine. There were two pilots in the plane, who were K.P. The aircraft landed safely in a pond located in George Town police area near the college.
Shandilya said that with the help of police, fire brigade personnel and local people, both the pilots were safely taken out of the plane. He told that the role of divers was also important during this period. He said that there is no report of any loss of life or property in this incident.
