Bureau Prayagraj – At around 2:30 pm, a multi-storey building of a private cold storage suddenly collapsed. The explosion was caused by the bursting of an ammonia gas tank or pipe, turning a large part of the building into debris. Description of the incident: This accident happened in Chandpur (Gaddopur) village of Phaphamau police station area, where 20-25 laborers were working. So far, the deaths of 9 workers have been confirmed, while many others are feared trapped under the debris.
The cold storage is said to be of former Samajwadi Party MLA Ansar Ahmed. Rescue and administrative action: Police, Fire Brigade, SDRF and NDRF teams have reached the spot and are carrying out rescue operations, along with which 7 bulldozers have been deployed. Additional Police Commissioner Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma and District Magistrate are monitoring the situation; Magisterial inquiry has been ordered.
Some reports say that 7 people have been evacuated safely. Effect of gas leak: Due to ammonia gas leak, nearby people are having trouble breathing, due to which panic spread in the area. Police have sealed the area and traffic diversion has been done; The villagers even pelted stones at the ambulance. The injured are being sent to SRN Hospital.
