Dengue becomes a scourge in Prayagraj, 3 killed, 129 patients undergoing treatment

Prayagraj Dengue alert: Dengue is wreaking havoc in Prayagraj. Its outbreak is spreading rapidly here. So far, 129 people have been infected with dengue in the district and 3 people have died. Dengue cases are being reported not only in urban areas but also in rural areas. 97 cases have been reported in urban areas and 32 in rural areas. 16 dengue patients are still active, out of which 2 patients are admitted in the hospital, while the remaining 14 patients are undergoing treatment at home.

Dr. Pramod Kumar, Nodal Officer of Vector Bond Disease, informed that to deal with the challenge of dengue, special dengue wards have been created in three big hospitals of the city, Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital, Motilal Nehru Divisional Hospital and Bailey Hospital. Apart from this, beds have also been reserved for dengue patients at all community health centres.

Dengue took the lives of 3 people

In view of the increasing cases of dengue, the Health Department has divided the city into 7 zones, in which a malaria inspector has been deployed in each zone. Along with this, 60 employees have also been deployed for dengue activities like entry larva spray and fogging.

Dengue affected 129 people

Dr. Pramod Kumar said that due to the vigilance of the department and increasing awareness among the people, the cases of dengue have decreased this year. Last year i.e. in 2023, 505 dengue cases were reported, whereas in 2022 this number was 1290. 1465 patients were reported in 2021. The health department is fully prepared to deal with the challenge of dengue and adequate arrangements for medicines have also been made.
