Prayagraj fraud case: ED filed charge sheet against Yogesh Tiwari
New Delhi. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a charge sheet against Yogesh Kumar Tiwari in a special PMLA court in Lucknow. ED sources said on Thursday that the special court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet. This case pertains to people making false promises to transfer various properties and later selling them to third parties.
The ED has initiated its PMLA investigation on the basis of an FIR lodged by the Uttar Pradesh Police at Jhunsi, Prayagraj police station. In this, the accused got several immovable properties transferred from the complainants by promising to set up a development project and get financial benefits in future.
He said investigation revealed that the accused defrauded the complainant by posing as a successful businessman, property dealer and a person having links with builders and bureaucrats and fraudulently acquired five immovable properties without proper payment.
Three of these properties were later sold to third parties and the sale proceeds were used for personal gain. ED has traced the proceeds of crime to Rs 1.41 crore. During the investigation, ED provisionally attached immovable properties worth Rs 78 lakh.
