Taking a strong stand against her morphed pictures and fake videos, Preity Zinta has approached the Bombay High Court. While hearing this case, Justice Madhav has issued an important order, which can prove to be a big step towards rooting out this problem. Preity Zinta has clearly stated in her petition that her AI-generated deepfake images and chatbot-style fake visuals are being made viral indiscriminately on many online platforms and social media sites. The actress has demanded from the High Court that these unauthorized and objectionable materials should be removed with immediate effect. Besides, injunction should also be imposed on the sites to prevent them from publishing such misleading content in future. What order did Justice Madhav Jamdar give? On Friday, a brief hearing of this important case was conducted by the single bench of Justice Madhav Jamdar. Understanding the seriousness of the matter, he has given strict instructions to all concerned online platforms and internet media portals. The court has said that a concrete mechanism should be developed to immediately remove such objectionable deepfake content from websites so that such incidents can be curbed in future. The court has fixed the next hearing of this case on July 6, where the online platforms will have to present their reply. What is deepfake and who has become its victim?
