Preity Zinta : Bollywood actress and entrepreneur Preity Zinta has taken major legal action against alleged deepfake videos, morphed photos, fake memes and fake chatbot profiles created using artificial intelligence (AI). In this case, the Bombay High Court has allowed her to file an extensive civil suit against Google LLC, Meta, X and several other digital platforms.

According to the information received, it was submitted in the court on behalf of Preity Zinta that various types of digital content was created with the help of AI using her image, personality and identity without her consent. It is alleged that the material was then widely circulated on the Internet. The actress’ legal team says such actions are damaging her public image, professional reputation and brand value.

During the hearing, the lawyers argued before the court that Preity Zinta is an Indian citizen and her residence and business activities are mainly in Mumbai. Therefore, he clarified that Bombay High Court has the right to hear this matter. It was also claimed that her image was constantly being affected as the relevant content was being broadcast domestically and internationally. With the permission granted by the court, Preity Zinta will now officially be able to file a civil case against the respective digital platforms. In addition to seeking damages, the suit also seeks a permanent injunction to remove content created and circulated without her permission.

The petition alleges unauthorized use of her persona on the respective platforms and also states that such AI-based content violates her moral and commercial rights.
