Premier League 2024/25: Arsenal obilerate Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park
New Delhi: Arsenal absolutely batter Crystal Palace 5-1 in the Premier League at Selhurst Park, their second victory in four days against the Eagles, with their Brazilian forward, Gabriel Jesus once again taking the center stage. Following his hat-trick in the EFL Cup midweek, the Brazilian striker scored twice in the first half.
After sailing over Richards in the six-yard box, Saka’s cross from the right bounced off Gabriel and into Jesus’ path. After that, he put the Gunners ahead with a close-range, low shot to open the scoring. Ismaila Sarr’s coolly composed reply, just five minutes after the opener was yet again cut down by Jesus who scored his second of the night to make it 2-1.
Kai Havertz joined the Brazilian in the scoresheet as he managed to convert after Jesus’ header struck a post, giving Arsenal a 3-1 advantage before the break. Following halftime, Palace put up a fight against their guests, forcing Raya to make some shrewd stops, but they lost when Martinelli scored the fourth goal from a close range after Declan Rice drove the ball back towards goal which was eventually tapped in by Martinelli.
Calafiori located Rice on the left side of the Crystal Palace box, where he created a narrow opening and then curled a wonderful low shot in off Henderson’s fingertips to make it 5-1 for Arsenal. Overall, it was truly a five star performance by the Gunners and now they look like they have finally found their rhythm on the pitch, which has to be taken into consideration by other contenders, Liverpool and Chelsea.

For the second time in four days, Gabriel Jesus showed his class to all the Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta. Five goals in two games against Crystal Palace shows how much he loves playing against the Eagles. He opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the game and managed to complete his brace in the 14th minute, right after Palace managed to equalise. However, it was his overall gameplay and the fact that he was available whenever he was needed upfront made him the biggest contender for this.
It will be interesting to see how he performs in the fixtures that lie ahead. If Mikel Arteta is willing to put his faith on the Brazilian, we might just witness a career revival for the former Manchester City centre forward. Currently, he looks high on confidence and he will be looking to prove himeslf further with good performances in the next gameweeks.
