Premier League matches of Arsenal, Manchester City subject to change due to UEFA Champions League

The Premier League title race might have more suspense in store as both contenders, Arsenal and Manchester City, could have rescheduled fixtures in round 30 of the league.

League leader Arsenal is scheduled to play Everton at home on March 15, while Man City, placed second, is slated to face West Ham United a day prior at the London Stadium.

However, with both teams still in the UEFA Champions League, they will play in the round of 16 on March 10 or 11, with the return leg set to be played a week later.

“The Premier League advised UEFA that clubs scheduled to play on March 15 would not be available to play Champions League fixtures on March 17. Unfortunately, UEFA has not been able to provide any guarantees on its scheduling ahead of the draw,” the league said in a statement on its website.

As a result, two Premier League fixtures could be re-scheduled its fixtures at even shorter notice.

“The Premier League will continue its regular dialogue with UEFA over fixture scheduling,” the statement added.

Arsenal, with 18 wins from 28 matches, currently leads the standings with 61 points, while Man City — with five points fewer — is breathing down its neck with an unbeaten run of five consecutive fixtures in the league.

The Gunners play Chelsea next on March 1, while City travels to Elland Road to play Leeds United on February 28.
