Dreaming of a premium SUV in a low budget? Skoda Kylaq created a stir, now CNG and new automatic option will come

This sub-4 meter SUV, launched in late 2024, will truly be a “trump card” It has been proved. With great pricing, strong build quality and excellent ride comfort, Kylaq crossed the sales mark of 50,000 units in just one year. In March 2025, it recorded record monthly sales of 7,422 units, which is the highest ever.

New trims added to the lineup, now more options

Keeping in mind the increasing customer demand, Skoda Auto India has added new Classic+ and Prestige+ trims to the Kylaq lineup. With this, customers are getting more options according to features and budget. The company has also confirmed that the Kylaq Sportline variant can be launched in the market by September 2026. Apart from this, Kylaq CNG and a new 8-speed automatic gearbox are also in the works.

Skoda Kylaq Sportline: New style with sporty look

It is clear from the name itself that Kylaq Sportline will be presented with a special sporty design. Elements like blacked out trims, new alloy wheels, dual-tone roof, smoked taillamps and electric anti-pinch sunroof can be found in it.

However, no change is expected in the engine. It will get the same 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine, which generates 114bhp power and 178Nm torque. This engine will come with both manual and automatic gearbox options.

Kylaq CNG: New game of mileage?

The company is also considering Kylaq CNG option amid rising fuel prices. There is talk that it may be offered as a dealer-level retrofit kit, which will probably be available in the manual variant. It is expected that the CNG version can give a mileage of around 25–30 km/kg, which can prove to be a big relief for budget customers.

Will get new 8-speed automatic gearbox

A new 8-speed automatic transmission can also be added to the Skoda Kylaq this year. The same gearbox has been given in the recently updated Kushaq, which is likely to improve the performance and driving experience.

price and competition

Currently, the price of Skoda Kylaq ranges between Rs 7.59 lakh to Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

  • Manual variant: Rs 7.59 lakh: Rs 11.99 lakh
  • Automatic variant: Rs 9.25 lakh: Rs 12.99 lakh

In the subcompact SUV segment, it competes with Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
