Preparation for strictness on private schools in UP: Now arbitrariness will not work

Lucknow. Complaints about arbitrary fees and expensive books being imposed by private schools in Uttar Pradesh were coming to the fore for a long time. Now, to control this, Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council has started taking strict steps. Keeping in mind the academic session 2026-27, a special campaign is being run in the entire state till April 15.

Strict stance on unauthorized books

The Council has given clear instructions that only books from authorized publishers will be taught in schools. Complaints were received at many places that private schools are forcibly implementing expensive and unauthorized books, the price of which is many times more than the prescribed rates. This is putting unnecessary financial burden on the parents.

There will be strict monitoring at the district level

All district school inspectors and concerned officers have been instructed to inspect schools regularly. If any violation of rules is found, action will be taken against the concerned manager, principal or teacher. Besides, the Council has also clarified that the copyright of the textbooks is reserved with them. In such a situation, legal action will also be taken in cases of piracy or fake books.

Initiative to provide affordable books to students

To provide relief to students and parents, instructions have been given to organize book fairs in schools. Through these fairs, authorized and quality books will be made available at reasonable prices. Parents have also been advised to purchase only those books which have a unique 7 digit serial number. This will make it easier to differentiate between real and fake books.
