K News Desktop- Uttar Pradesh Congress has decided to organize social and political programs for a week on the occasion of Kanshi Ram’s birthday. This program will start on March 13 from Jupiter Hall, Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow. Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will participate as the keynote speaker. Congress has decided to celebrate Kanshi Ram’s birth anniversary as Social Transformation Day this year.
Dalit-backward thinkers and social workers have also been invited to this program. In view of the UP assembly elections, this step of Rahul Gandhi is being seen as an attempt to influence especially the Dalit vote bank. Congress believes that BSP supremo Mayawati, who is handling Kanshi Ram’s legacy, has not been active for a long time and is working like the B team of BJP. In such a situation, Congress hopes that Kanshi Ram’s big vote bank can be brought to its side.
Rahul Gandhi has continuously given the message that “whose number is bigger, his share is bigger” and he has also raised the demand for caste census. This may attract Kanshi Ram supporters towards Congress. Earlier, Rahul had turned the game in his favor against BJP by raising the issue of changing the Constitution in the Lok Sabha elections.
Kanshi Ram founded the Bahujan Samaj Party in 1984 and is credited with organizing Dalit and backward communities in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country into a strong political group. His birth anniversary is celebrated every year by his followers and especially by the BSP.
This year, Samajwadi Party has also announced that it will celebrate this day on a large scale and will celebrate it as PDA Day. BSP supremo Mayawati criticized Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav over this and termed it a political drama. He says that this step of SP has always been disrespectful towards Bahujan Samaj and icons like Kanshi Ram.
