Preparation to cancel more than 60 thousand arms licenses in Bihar, Home Ministry gave order
More than 60 thousand arms licenses can be canceled in the Indian state of Bihar. The Union Home Ministry has put in the expired category all those licenses which were not renewed. This big decision is related to law and order and security in the state. The Home Department has sent a letter to all the District Magistrates in this regard.
Thousands of arms licenses will be canceled in Bihar, this is the reason
The Union Home Ministry has directed to cancel about 60 thousand arms licenses in all the districts of Bihar. The main reason for this is license holders not renewing their arms licenses. More than 96 hundred such licenses are from Patna district only, while more than four thousand licenses each can be canceled in Bhojpur and Rohtas.
Licenses without UAPN will also be investigated
The Home Ministry has also asked to check those arms licenses which do not have UAPN (Unique Identification Number). In all 38 districts of Bihar, 55,939 arms licenses have already been declared expired due to non-renewal. Besides, 77 licenses without UAPN were found still active, the highest of which are in Patna district.
New rules for licensees
Joint Secretary of the Home Department, Amalendu Kumar Singh has written a letter to the DMs of all the districts and given instructions. He said that action should be taken on these licenses under the Arms Act, 1959 and Arms Rules, 2016 available on the portal of the Union Home Ministry. People who have arms without UAPN have also been ordered to deposit them at the nearest police station.
